Also, when plugged in at boot up, it stops/freezes computer from completing. When it freezes, I unplug it and reboot. Successful startup w/o it plugged in. Once system operational and plugged in, it appears in Device Manager. If the drive works fine on another system then I wouldn't think the problem is with the drive. I would recommend testing the drive on a PC that recognizes it with WD Data Lifeguard Diagnostic tool and see if the drive passes both the quick and the extended tests. I'd also see if all the latest OS and driver updates are installed on the system.
